Henrietta van Kramberg has spoken about her experience with areola tattoos, which are used in breast reconstruction after cancer surgery. She was part of a campaign supported by Sandton City Shopping Centre and the Breast Health Foundation, which aimed to provide funding for areola tattooing for survivors who could not afford the final phase of breast reconstruction.
Henrietta shared that while she embraced her scars as symbols of survival, she wished for symmetry in her breasts after surgery. Areola tattoos help survivors regain confidence by restoring the natural appearance of their breasts. The campaign also featured emotive and informative videos highlighting the impact of breast cancer and the journey of survivors.
